Discerning the Spirit of Truth 🙌
Bible verse of the Day!
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
- 1 John 4:1 (ESV)
Reflection..
We live in a world filled with voices! Spiritual voices, persuasive ideas, supernatural experiences, and teachings that claim divine origin. Not every spiritual experience comes from God. Scripture warns us clearly! That deception is real, and spirits that oppose Christ actively seek to mislead believers.
Demons do not always appear as obvious evil. Often, deception comes wrapped in partial truth, emotional experiences, or messages that sound spiritual but subtly contradict God’s Word. The enemy’s goal is confusion, distraction, fear, pride, or self reliance! Absolutely anything that pulls us away from humble obedience to Christ.
The Holy Spirit, however, is never confusing or manipulative. He always glorifies Jesus, aligns with Scripture, produces peace (not chaos), and leads us into truth. Even when that truth convicts us. The Spirit of God will NEVER contradict the Word of God.
Discernment is not about suspicion or fear, but more about having God leading you correctly. The more we know His voice, the easier it becomes to recognise what is counterfeit. Just as a shepherd knows his sheep, the sheep learn to recognise the shepherd’s voice.
Ask yourself:
Does this draw me closer to Jesus or to myself?
Does this agree with Bible Scripture?
Does it produce the fruit of the Spirit or the works of the flesh?
Does it promote humility, love, and obedience.. or pride and confusion?
God has not left us defenseless. He has given us His Spirit, His Word, and the wisdom that comes through prayer.
Prayer.. 🙏
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit, who leads me into all truth. Guard my heart and mind from deception. Give me discernment to recognise what is not from You, even when it appears attractive or spiritual. Help me to test every spirit against Your Word and to listen closely for Your voice. Keep me grounded in truth, humble in spirit, and faithful to Christ alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Today’s Practice..
Spend a few quiet moments asking the Holy Spirit to sharpen your discernment.
Read John 16:13 and Galatians 5:22-23.
Commit to measuring every teaching, impression, or experience against Scripture!

Thank you Jess ❤️
TY Amen 🙏 😌
