I asked you..
"You're driving and someone starts running into the road shouting for help. They clearly look distressed. You've got space to pull over and no one else is around."
What are you going to do in this situation?
If you chose to stop and help..
Your empathy and desire to help is is so high that it overrides your survival instinct. An amazing trait to have and one of God's helpers here, but it's likely you didn't consider the fact you could get hurt in some way. God always wants us to help, bit he tells us to be wise as not all could be as it seems. This could also show you are a people pleaser and put the needs of others before yourself. Something to think on!
If you chose to keep driving and ignore.. your heart may have hardened when it comes to helping or trusting others. This is usually due to being hurt or fooled alot in the past by those you have helped in some way. Your survival and self preservation instincts are high, which is good. However, it may be time for you to allow God to open your heart again. You may have become so untrusting of the world, that you are losing the very part of you that Jesus gave you to bring light to the world. Is it true, do you need to forgive those that hurt you and open your heart again?
If you chose not to stop but to call the police and alert them, this is the most wise of options. It shows that you have seen the potential dangers here, but also have a strong desire to help others too. A good balance that will actually increase the chance of safety for everyone involved. In my own judgement I would say your discernment is well developed and you're in a good balance between self preservation and helping others.
Thanks so much for this, Jess. I think these discernment tests really help people and it's nice to talk them through. 🙏
Love these tests, they help us all so much 💕
