You need to REST! ✋️

We don’t talk about this enough, but not resting doesn’t just make you “a bit tired.” It starts to unravel things layer by layer. Your body feels it, your mind feels it, and your spirit absolutely feels it too. And the tricky part is, it often creeps in slowly, so you don’t realise how drained you actually are until you’re already running on empty.

Physically, your body keeps score. If you don’t rest properly, your system stays in a constant state of stress. Sleep gets shallow, your energy dips, your immune system weakens, and everything starts to feel heavier than it should. You might notice more headaches, tension in your body, or just that constant “wired but exhausted” feeling. God designed our bodies with limits on purpose. Even in creation, He rested, not because He needed to, but to show us a pattern. Ignoring that pattern eventually catches up with us.

Mentally, it gets even louder. When you don’t rest your mind, your thoughts don’t slow down, they speed up. You start overthinking things that normally wouldn’t bother you. Small problems feel big. Decisions feel overwhelming. You might feel irritable, anxious, or just mentally foggy. It’s like your brain never gets a reset, so it keeps stacking pressure on top of pressure. Rest isn’t laziness, it’s actually what allows your mind to process, heal, and stay clear.

Spiritually, this is where it hits in a deeper way. When you don’t rest, it becomes harder to hear God clearly. Not because He’s gone quiet, but because there’s too much noise inside you. Your spirit gets weary. Prayer can start to feel like a chore instead of a connection. You might feel distant, disconnected, or even a bit numb. And then the enemy loves to step in and twist that, making you feel like you’re doing something wrong or that God is far away. But a lot of the time, it’s simply that you’re exhausted.

There’s a reason Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” He didn’t say “try harder” or “push through.” He said come and rest. That’s an invitation, not a command filled with pressure.

When you don’t rest, you also start trying to carry things you were never meant to carry alone. You rely more on your own strength, your own understanding, your own control. And that’s where burnout really begins, not just physically, but spiritually too. Because you were never designed to live disconnected from God’s peace.

But here’s the good news. Rest can be rebuilt. It doesn’t have to be some big dramatic reset. Sometimes it starts small. Turning everything off for a bit. Sitting in quiet. Letting your body breathe. Letting your thoughts settle. Coming back to God honestly, even if all you can say is, “I’m tired.”

Rest is not weakness. It’s actually trust. It’s saying, “God, I don’t have to hold everything together. You’ve got this.”

And when you start to rest properly again, you’ll notice it. Your body softens. Your mind clears. Your spirit reconnects. You feel grounded again, not because life suddenly got easy, but because you’re no longer carrying it all on your own.

Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do… is rest!!!!
