Can you do it?

Choosing Good When You Could Choose Evil..

There is a kind of strength that doesn’t get talked about much. It’s not loud or aggressive, actually. It’s the strength it takes to stop yourself when you know you could hurt someone back and you choose not to.

Let’s be honest. When someone wrongs us, the urge to retaliate can feel justified. We replay the offense in our heads. We imagine what we could say or do to even the score. But having the power to destroy someone and choosing not to is one of the strongest decisions a person can make.

The Bible reminds us that we are not meant to fight darkness with more darkness.

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

Romans 12:21

Choosing good does not mean you are weak. It means you are disciplined. It means you refuse to let pain turn you into someone bitter or cruel. It means you trust that God sees what happened and will handle what you cannot.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Exodus 14:14

Sometimes the real win is walking away with a clean heart. Sometimes the strongest response is silence, prayer, and self control. When you choose mercy instead of revenge, you reflect the heart of God.

“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

Matthew 5:44

Jesus had every reason and every right to retaliate. He had the power to stop everything instantly. Instead, He chose forgiveness. He chose love. That choice changed the world.

“He has shown you what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

Micah 6:8

Choosing good over evil is not easy, but it is powerful. It keeps your soul free. It keeps your heart aligned. And it reminds the world that light still wins.

A Prayer! 🙏

God,

Help me choose good when choosing evil feels easier.

Help me pause when my emotions want control.

Give me the strength to walk away when I could cause harm.

Protect my heart from bitterness and pride.

Teach me to trust You with justice, timing, and outcomes.

Let my life reflect Your love, even when it costs me something.

Amen.
