Sometimes we carry things that were never meant to sit on our shoulders 24 hours a day. We replay conversations. We worry about money, relationships, our future, our health, what people think of us, whether things will work out. Before we know it, our minds are exhausted and our hearts feel heavy.
But God never asked us to hold the whole world together…
One thing I’ve realised is that worrying feels productive sometimes. Like if we think about the problem enough, maybe we can control the outcome. But most of the time it just drains our peace. God already knows the situation before we even speak about it. He sees the bits we cannot see. The conversations behind closed doors. The delays. The protection. The timing. The things He is saving us from that we do not even realise.
The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.” I love that verse because it does not say “carry it until you break.” It says cast it. Hand it over. Release it.
That does not mean we suddenly stop caring about our lives. It just means we stop trying to play God. Some battles are won in surrender, not control.
Honestly, some of us need to stop sitting awake trying to figure everything out and simply say, “God, I trust You with this now.” Even if your faith feels shaky. Even if you are emotional. Even if you have prayed about the same thing 50 times already.
God is not irritated by your honesty.
Sometimes laying worries down looks practical too. Turning your phone off for an hour. Going for a walk. Worshipping instead of spiralling. Writing your thoughts down and praying over them. Taking a deep breath instead of immediately assuming the worst. Reminding yourself that fear is loud, but God is steady.
And the truth is, God has carried people through impossible situations before. He parted seas. Closed lions’ mouths. Restored broken people. Brought peace into chaos. He has not suddenly become powerless in your situation.
You do not need to have every answer today.
You do not need to force every door open.
You do not need to know exactly how everything will work out.
Sometimes peace comes before the breakthrough. Sometimes trusting God is the breakthrough.
So tonight, or this morning, wherever you are reading this, just hand it over to Him again. The fear. The pressure. The overthinking. The sadness. The situation you cannot control.
God can hold what is crushing you.
