Growing From What We Surived ✝️
Bible verse -
“Praise be to the God… who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
- 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV)
Devotional Reflection 📖
There are seasons of life we never would have chosen! Moments marked by pain, loss, disappointment, or deep struggle. Yet here we are. We survived. Not because it was easy, but because God was faithful through it. It wasn't HUMAN strength.
Growth and healing means the wound no longer controls us. What once tried to break us can become the very place God pours wisdom, compassion, and strength into others. Our testimony is not about perfection, but about transformation!
God never wastes pain. When we allow Him to heal us, He also equips us. The empathy you now carry, the boundaries you’ve learned, the courage you’ve gained.. these are tools. They are meant to serve, to encourage, and to remind others that survival can turn into purpose.
Today, instead of asking “Why did this happen to me?” consider asking, “Who can I help because I made it through?”
Therapy Informed Reflection Tips 🧠
Name the growth: Write down one emotional skill you developed because of what you survived (resilience, assertiveness, empathy).
Practice meaning making: Trauma loses power when we can identify how it shaped us without defining us.
Set healthy boundaries: Helping others does not mean reopening wounds. You can serve from a healed place, not a bleeding one.
Share selectively: Your story is sacred. Share it where it will be honored, not exploited.
Self compassion check: Remind yourself, “I did the best I could with what I knew at the time.”
Prayer! 🙏
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for carrying me through what I thought I wouldn’t survive. Thank You for every lesson, every tear, and every moment You stayed near when I felt weak. Help me continue to heal without shame and grow without fear. Show me how to use what I’ve been through to bring hope, comfort, and light to others.. without losing myself in the process. May my story glorify You and remind others that healing is possible. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
