Following Jesus can be seriously hard sometimes. I think we often forget that because social media tends to show the highlights. We see polished testimonies, perfect Bible studies and people who always seem to have the right words. Meanwhile, many of us are quietly wrestling with doubt, temptation, grief, anxiety, disappointment or simply feeling exhausted.
The Christian walk isn't about never stumbling. It's about who you turn to when you do.
Every person in the Bible, apart from Jesus, was flawed. David committed terrible sins. Peter denied Jesus three times. Elijah wanted to give up. Jonah ran away from God's calling. Thomas doubted. Martha worried. Yet God continued to work through them because His grace is greater than our weakness.
Sometimes we imagine God standing over us, waiting for us to fail so He can tell us off. The Gospel paints a completely different picture. Jesus is the Shepherd who goes looking for the sheep that wandered. He is the Father who runs to meet the prodigal son. He is full of mercy for those who genuinely want to follow Him.
There will be days when your prayers feel dry. Days when you don't feel spiritual at all. Days when you lose your temper, make poor decisions or wonder if you're getting anything right. Those moments don't surprise God. He already knew every weakness you would have before He called you to Himself.
Walking with God is less about being perfect and more about staying connected. Every time you get back up, every time you choose to pray instead of giving up, every time you repent instead of hiding, you are growing. Sometimes growth doesn't look dramatic. Sometimes it simply looks like refusing to quit.
Don't compare your behind the scenes to someone else's highlight reel. Every believer has battles they don't post online. We all have areas where God is still shaping us. We all need His grace every single day.
So if you've stumbled recently, don't stay on the floor believing you've ruined everything. Get back up. Jesus hasn't walked away from you. His mercies are new every morning, and His love isn't based on a flawless performance. Keep taking one step at a time. A faithful walk with God isn't about never falling. It's about always knowing whose hand to reach for when you do.
